About Packfinch

Packfinch is a small collection of free, fast file tools that run entirely in your web browser — starting with image compression.

The idea

Most “free” online file tools work by uploading your files to a company’s server, doing the work there, and sending the result back. That means your personal photos and documents leave your device and land on someone else’s computer, often with vague promises about what happens to them next.

Packfinch takes the opposite approach. Every tool runs on your own device, inside your browser. When you drop an image in to compress it, that image is never uploaded, never transmitted, and never stored anywhere but your own machine. You could switch off your internet after the page loads and the tools would still work.

What we’re building

The first tool is an image compressor and converter for JPG, PNG and WebP. Over time, Packfinch is growing into a wider family of everyday file tools — image resizing, format conversion, and PDF utilities among them. The rule stays the same for all of them: it runs in your browser, and it’s free to use.

How it stays free

Packfinch is kept free by unobtrusive advertising on the pages. There’s no sign-up, no trial, and no “pro” version that hides the useful buttons behind a paywall. The whole tool is available to everyone, every time.

Packfinch is an independent project. Have a suggestion, a bug report, or an idea for a tool you’d like to see? The contact page is the place to reach us.
