Privacy Policy
Packfinch is built around a simple principle: the files you work with are yours, and they should stay on your device. This policy explains what that means in practice, and what limited data is involved in running the site.
The files you process
Packfinch’s tools — such as the image compressor — run entirely within your web browser, on your own device. When you add an image or other file to a tool:
- It is not uploaded to Packfinch or any server.
- It is not transmitted across the internet.
- It is not stored or retained by us in any form.
The file is read and processed locally and then discarded from memory when you leave or refresh the page. We never see your files, and we have no ability to access them.
Information the site collects
While your files stay private, running a public website does involve some standard data:
- Basic technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log standard information such as browser type, device type, and approximate region, for security and reliability.
- Analytics (if enabled): we may use privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate, anonymous usage — for example, how many people used a tool — to improve the site. This does not identify you personally.
- Advertising cookies: Packfinch is supported by advertising, described below.
Cookies and advertising
Packfinch is kept free through advertising, which may be served by Google and other third-party vendors. To do this, these vendors may use cookies and similar technologies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to Packfinch and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
Where required by law, advertising cookies that are not strictly necessary will only be set with your consent.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over any personal data relating to you, such as the right to access it or object to certain processing. Because Packfinch does not collect or store your files and holds no account information, the personal data involved is minimal. You can control advertising cookies using the opt-out links above and your browser settings.
Children
Packfinch is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add analytics or change how advertising works. When we do, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
